Remove the lid, clean and lubricate the O-ring and re-seal. There could also be a leak at the suction side of the pump. Call for service.

Q: The pump motor will not start after shutdown. What could it be?
This could be a couple of things. You could have dirt in start winding of the motor, the pump impeller is malfunctioning or the motor is burnt out. For any of these you will need to call for service and repair.

Q: The pump motor stops while running and the switch is "on". What could it be?
A circuit breaker could be tripped. Reset and check if tripping reoccurs. In addition, check the time clock. There could be dirt in the start winding of the motor or the motor could be burned out. For this you will need to call for service and repair.

Filter Troubleshooting

Q: Why is the filter pressure excessively high, but the pool circulation is slow?
The filter may need backwashing. If the backwash does not correct this problem the grids in the DE filter probably need cleaning and you need to call for service and repair.

Q: Why is the filter pressure excessively high but the circulation is normal?
The pressure gauge may be defective, call for repairs. If you are experiencing freezing temperatures, ice formation in the gauge may be giving a false reading.

Q: The filter pressure is normal or high but there is no pool circulation?
Check the position of the valves and make sure they are in normal operating positions. Also, the filter may need backwashing. If backwash does not correct problem the grids in the DE filter may need cleaning. Call for service and repair.

Q: There is low or no filter pressure and no pool circulation?
This could be a number of things. The water level may be too low or a skimmer door may be stuck. There may be a leak at the pump lid. If so, remove, clean and lubricate the "O" ring and re-seal. There may be a leak at the suction side of the pump or dirt in the start winding of he motor and requires a call for service or repairs. Finally, the pump may have lost its prime. See priming instructions on page 64 of your Hauk Operations Manual.

Q: The DE siphons to pool when the system is off?
Try to bleed air off after backwashing. It could also be an air leak within the re-circulation system. Check all seals or call for repairs. The water level may be too low or a skimmer door may be stuck. There may be a leak at the pump lid. If so, remove, clean and lubricate the "O" ring and re-seal.

Q: Why is the filter leaking water out of the backwash line?
The backwash "O"-rings need lubrication. Call for service and repair.

Q: The filter backwash level is difficult to move?
First, turn off the pump before attempting to move handle. If that doesn't work, the back wash "O"-rings probably need lubrication. Call for service and repair.

Leak Troubleshooting

Q: Why do I have leaks at the pump?
It could be a leak at the pump lid. If so, remove, clean and lubricate the "O" ring and re-seal. If that doesn't work, the pump seal may be leaking or the plumbing is leaking. Call for service and repair.

Q: I have a leak at the filter?
Try to tighten the air bleed valve. If this does not work the plumbing may be leaking, there could be a defective pressure gauge or the backwash "O"-rings need lubrication. Call for service and repair.

Q: I have a leak at the heater?
The plumbing may be leaking or an internal part is broken. Call for service and repair.

Q: Why are there air bubbles coming through the returns?
